Wire/Fiber Coating Line

Please email mark_keene@uml.edu to set up a consulting meeting prior to usage. The wire/fiber coating line is custom fabricated by BSC, LLC. It comprises a meniscus type coating and cross-head deposition of liquids. The line can coat 0.001 to 0.064 inch diameters with coating speed ranging from 0.01 ft/min to 25 ft/min. The line has 3 different varying options: sintering furnace, UV and thermal curing. Applications include coating fibers with unusual cross-section such as reentrant omniphobic or thermoresponsive fibers as well as coating electroactive materials. The equipment is compatible with cross-head extrusion and provides the opportunity to explore wet spinning and coagulation processes.
